Jim Harbaugh can’t talk about Michigan’s NCAA investigation: ‘I would love to lay it all out there’

Jim Harbaugh just can’t talk about it.

On Thursday, during Big Ten media days, the Michigan coach was asked where things stood with the NCAA investigation. It was reported earlier this week Harbaugh and the NCAA are negotiating a four-game suspension as a result of alleged false statements he made to NCAA investigators.

“As you probably already know, I’m not allowed to talk about any aspect of that ongoing situation,” Harbaugh said. “I’m with you, I would love to lay it all out there. Nothing to be ashamed of. But now is not that time. That’s about all there is to say about that.”

According to the report earlier this week, the suspension would be four games, which includes home games against East Carolina, UNLV, Bowling Green and Rutgers.

Michigan received notice earlier this year that the NCAA was looking into potential rules infractions in the Harbaugh-led program. The investigation involved impermissible texts and calls to high school prospects during part of a pandemic-related dead period for contact with potential recruits.
